A Big Thank You to Carillion Tarmac

Over the years the car park at the Goosedale Sports facility, the Home of Hucknall Sports Youth football club had deteriorated so much that the monthly ritual of filling in potholes to ensure reasonable access for cars was just not the long term fix.

Sports Chairman Alan Spray decided enough was enough and engaged with the major contractor for the new Hucknall Inner Relief Road Carillion Tarmac asking if there was any chance that some of their redundant material could be used to fill in the potholes.

Alan stated "it was a complete shot in the dark thinking at best what could happen is that they would drop a load of scrap material such that we could continue the process of filling in potholes"

In early 2017 Alan met Harold Shaw, the site Public Liaison Officer for Carillion Tarmac, to view the area and see how they could assist. Harold made contact 2 weeks later explaining that Carillion Tarmac would not only fill in the potholes, but also lay some asphalt in the access and half of the car park in February.

The works took place over 2 days on the 15th and 16th February and in true DIY SOS style as an army of people descended on Goosedale to do all of the works.

Alan said "I was completely gobsmacked by the generosity of a company like Carillion Tarmac who had gone out of their way to support and improve things for a local voluntary youth football organisation such as Hucknall Sports Youth football club. I have nothing but praise in complementing Carillion Tarmac for undertaking the works in such a safe and professional manner – all of the operatives took a very positive interest in our club activities".

Carillion Tarmac’s Project Manager, Jonathan Falls, said “When approached by the Hucknall Sports Club about some car park repairs, we were only to happy to take a look and see if we could assist. When we saw the condition of the car park and damage it could cause we had no hesitation in assisting the club with a newly surfaced car park. As part of our commitment to the Considerate Constructors Scheme and leaving a positive lasting impression on the local area, it was a pleasure to be able to help”

a new two and a half years  contract with the Reds  and was then loaned out to Dagenham & Redbridge this week to gain football league experience.

Robin Hood visits Hucknall Sports YCFC

Robin Hood paid a surprise visit recently to the new Wigwam facility to check on the progress of our new Under 7's teams who are playing in The Young Elizebathan league on Saturday and Sundays.

The Nottingham has kindly sponsored our Soccer School (hence the connection with Robin Hood) and these teams have graduated from our Soccer School and the photograph shows members of the squads (together with their respective opposition Priory Celtic & Riverside Colts) proudly displaying their new Nottingham sponsored kits.

We have 2 teams playing on Saturday's under the guidance of Team Managers Rob Neal & Wayne Sellers and the Sunday squad under the management of Martin Parker and all are supported with a very strong & supportive team of coaches plus the essential ingredient of committed parents.

It is great to see the Nottingham supporting our club for which we are truly grateful to Michelle and her wonderful team at the Nottingham in Hucknall and we hope that this sponsorship of our Soccer School will continue in the years ahead.
